Biography

shamble copy I was born in the UK and have always had 2 passions in my life, art and science.

As   a child I spent alot of time drawing, painting and making things.  However I     decide to pursue science as a career rather than  art.  As  a young woman  I studied  biology and graduated with a BSC in biology. I was very interested in  tropical parasitologyand I was lucky to be offered a job in South Africa at the South African Institute of Medical Research. I  worked overseas in South Africa for 5 amazing years. While there I became a medical entomologist and added another degree, a  MSc,  plus getting married.  We emmigrated to Australia in the late 80’s where we now reside in Toowoomba, Queensland.  After a few more years as an agricultural entomologist I switched careers and became a high school teacher for 13 years teaching science and art.  And now the wheels have finally turned full circle and I am back drawing, painting and taking photographs of the things that interest and stimulate me  as an artist. I have spent the last 6 years practising as a professional artist and have had some fabulous opportunities here in Australia to develop and grow as an artist. One of the most unusual was the offer of being the “artist in residence” for Australian Aerospace at the Army Aviation Training Centre at Oakey in Qld. During this time I documented in the form of illustrations, drawings and photographs the introduction of the new Tiger Armed Reconnaissance  Helicopter. This resulted in an exhibition called Tigers, Rotors & Blokes.

My next major body of work reflected my passion for cats and along with the works of Robbie Erskine, was shown in May 2009 in an exhibition called  Feline Groovy . As most of my cats come from the RSPCA part of the show was a fundraiser for the RSPCA in Toowoomba aswell.

I consider myself a “young artist” in terms of my work and I regularly attend workshops and other forms of tuition to develop my technical and artistic skills.

Thank you for having a look and please feel free to contact me either through my email here or as a comment.
